Comparisons · Putting it together

What should a family-office yacht charter comparison spreadsheet contain?

Short answer

Keep suitability, evidence and money separate. Our recommended board has three layers: mandatory conditions, weighted preferences and an unresolved-issues register.

Two motor yachts moored side by side in a harbour

Layer 1: Which conditions must pass?

Mark each item pass, fail or unresolved. Do not average a failure into an otherwise high score.

  • Permitted guest arrangements for everyone travelling.
  • Feasible cabin allocation.
  • Required boarding and onboard access.
  • Operating permission for the itinerary.
  • Dated availability and a clear booking deadline.
  • Sufficiently established total cost and payment schedule.
  • Acceptable contracting and payment arrangements.

Layer 2: How should suitable yachts be ranked?

The following weights are an editorial starting point, not a validated prediction of holiday satisfaction. Adjust them with the principal before scoring.

Show evidence confidence alongside every rating. An undocumented claim should remain unresolved rather than earn the same confidence as a reviewed document or a dated captain confirmation.

End with a conditional recommendation, for example:

Illustrative approval wording: Prefer Proposal B if the cabin allocation, captain’s route assessment and expense assumptions are confirmed. Approve up to the stated total-trip ceiling, with a separately defined contingency. Do not release the deposit until finance verifies the recipient and the designated adviser closes the listed contract issues.
