Can yacht charter crew look after children?
Do not treat an enthusiastic family-friendly crew as a booked childcare service. Burgess’s family-charter guidance says entertaining children is not the crew’s primary role and suggests considering a nanny where appropriate. (feat-app.burgessyachts.com)

- Recommended allocation:
Agree responsibilities before choosing the yacht:
- Who supervises each child during meals, swimming and tender journeys?
- Who remains responsible while adults go ashore?
- Is any childcare service specifically agreed, and for what hours?
- What relevant experience and qualifications does the proposed carer have?
- Where will accompanying childcare staff sleep?
- Has their presence been cleared within the yacht’s permitted arrangements?
Ask the captain to describe the child-specific safety briefing and available equipment. Include suitable lifejackets, controlled access to exterior areas, stair arrangements and rules around pools and water activities in that conversation.
Recommended allocation: parents or an agreed caregiver retain clearly assigned supervision duties; crew organize the yacht and agreed activities. Avoid leaving the division of responsibility to assumption once everyone is aboard.
