How can I verify the captain, chef and service quality before booking?

Short answer

Verify the team expected for your charter dates, not merely the yacht’s historical reputation. Bluewater’s recruitment board includes permanent and temporary roles on private and charter yachts; a recruitment listing is a reason to ask about staffing, not proof that a particular proposed yacht has a problem. Key points from this page
  • Recommended evidence discipline:

Request a concise current-crew pack:

  • Captain and senior service-team profiles.
  • Expected personnel for the relevant dates.
  • Planned leave, rotation or temporary cover affecting your trip.
  • Chef experience relevant to your dietary brief.
  • Relevant watersports or specialist capabilities.
  • Recent, appropriately anonymized charter feedback.

Ask the broker when someone last inspected the yacht with this team aboard. A previous inspection can still be useful, but record what it actually establishes.

Where service requirements are unusually important, request a short pre-booking discussion with the captain or chef through the broker.

Recommended evidence discipline: distinguish a crew biography, a broker’s firsthand observation and a former guest’s reference. Each answers a different question; none guarantees the future experience.
