How far in advance should I book a superyacht charter?

Short answer

For fixed dates and specific requirements, begin early enough to compare real alternatives. Burgess recommends at least six months, noting that popular yachts can be reserved a year ahead and that very early enquiries may precede owners’ own planning decisions. (burgessyachts.com)

Use your constraints to set the timetable:

  • Fixed festive or school-holiday dates: prioritize date and yacht availability.
  • Specific accessibility requirements: allow time to verify physical suitability.
  • A particular yacht or crew: establish the calendar and expected personnel early.
  • Flexible dates and preferences: ask brokers to show alternatives without assuming a late-booking discount.

As of October 16, 2026, an enquiry for December 2026 is a near-term request; an enquiry for Mediterranean summer 2027 is a different planning exercise. State the year in every instruction.

Decision rule: earlier research is useful even if you are not ready to sign. It lets you identify the requirements that actually constrain the search before a time-limited offer arrives.
